ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ENGINEER — GEO. M. MARTIN EMERYVILLE, CALIFORNIA
MAR 2023 - FEB 2026
• Developed internal software tools to assist in the configuration of electrical prints as well as upgrading machine program versions. Reducing the engineering time for this step from 8 to 4 hours.
• Programmed preliminary functionality, interface, and aging cycle for a prototype sheet handling machine. Using stepper motors for linear and rotational movement, and pneumatic valves for suction and separation.
• Created, linked, and tested touchscreen layouts for the next generation Bundle Breaker. These improvements provided operators with greater troubleshooting capabilities and reduced the learning curve for new operators.
• Updated the logic for large, servo driven belts on the Bundle Breaker that are actively tracked from side to side using pneumatic tensioning. This was done alongside the touch interface overhaul and reduced in-house testing times.
• Provided extensive troubleshooting and technical support to customers and company field technicians.
MECHANICAL ENGINEER — THERMAL TECHNOLOGY SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA
FEB 2022 - MAR 2023
• Designed new, and improved existing, sintering dies, vacuum & pressured gas plumbing, and sensor mounts.
• Produced a structural report for a large furnace frame including calculations for baseplate and seismic analysis.
• Verified the efficacy of modifications to water-cooling circuits and backup water switches to meet pressure reqs.
• Converted the design of insulation for an existing furnace design from molybdenum to graphite foam board.
• Designed and analyzed resistive heating elements made from molybdenum and various grades of graphite.
• Verified primary transformer sizing for furnaces as well as sizing accommodating chillers for furnace cooling loops.
• Verified mechanical, electrical, thermal, and fluidic designs both analytically and using multi physics simulation.
INTERN — GEOVISUAL ANALYTICS SALINAS, CALIFORNIA
JUNE 2021 - AUGUST 2021
• Developed an internal software tool to streamline the process of transferring flight data for pilots in the field.
• Collected and recorded ground truth data for model training and designated new areas for data collection.
• Provided market research and contacted OEMs for the company’s next generation aerial imaging fleet.
TEAM MEMBER — FORMULA SAE | SENIOR DESIGN GOLDEN, COLORADO
AUGUST 2020 - MAY 2021
• Worked on the team’s first steering wheel subsystem with a primary role of electronics and programming. Delivering a steering wheel with screen and LED feedback, paddle shifters, and button interface.
• Selected parts and development platforms balancing cost and ease of use in a multidisciplinary, and primarily remote, environment. Using development boards compatible with the Arduino IDE, and a Nextion display.
• Created an additional testing unit to validate CAN comms and bandwidth when access to the ECU was limited.
